I’m Rubin Quarcoopome, and I’m obsessed with stories. From my childhood days in Ghana hearing my father's tales of the mischievous Anansi to my adolescence in Detroit absorbing anime and movies, riveting tales helps my understand the world and connect with people. My artistic work is centered on photography and digital painting. I love exploring afrosurrealism, finding ways to make the ordinary weird, and the weird ordinary. My work focuses on telling Black stories and opening doors and ways for others in the BIPOC community to thrive.
My artistic work overlaps with my start-up, Designing in Color, an organization I co-founded with colleagues meant to diversify the way architecture is taught and practiced. My work has been featured at the Bellevue Arts Museum and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, as well as published in Blank Space's Fairy Tale anthology, Moevir Magazine, and Mob Journal.
I would love to work with you! Book me for a photoshoot or a design today and let's make something amazing.
